Stream Groups

A stream group is a folder that organizes a source's streams in the sidebar. A source like "Cerbo GX" can have a few streams directly beneath it plus one or more groups - say "test streams" - that hold the rest. Groups can be nested inside other groups, as deep as you like.

Grouping is purely for tidiness: a grouped stream still belongs to its source and tails exactly the same way. Moving a stream into a group changes only where it appears in the sidebar.

Creating a group

Right-click a source and choose New Stream Group… to add a group directly under it.
Right-click an existing stream group and choose New Stream Group… to create a group nested inside it.

Give the group a name and an SF Symbol, just like a source group.

Adding streams to a group

Two ways, whichever you prefer:

Drag a stream onto a group folder to move it in; drag it back onto the source row to take it out again.
Or right-click a stream and use Move to Stream Group ▸, then pick a group (or None to ungroup it). Nested groups appear as "Parent ▸ Child".

Drag streams up and down to reorder them within a group, and drag a group folder onto another to re-nest it (you can't drop a folder into one of its own descendants).

Viewing a group

Select a stream group to see a summary of its contents - its nested groups and streams - in the detail pane. Double-click an item there to open it.

Status at a glance when collapsed

When you collapse a group, its folder shows a single status LED that rolls up the streams hidden inside it - so you can keep groups closed to save space and still see if something needs attention:

Green when every stream inside is streaming normally.
Yellow / orange when a stream is connecting or reconnecting.
Red the moment any stream hits an error.
Gray when every stream inside is stopped.

The worst status wins, and it propagates upward: a red stream deep inside a nested group turns its group red, its source red, and the source's group red too - all the way to the top. Expand a container again and the LED disappears, since each stream then shows its own. The same roll-up applies to collapsed source groups and sources.

Deleting a group

Right-click a group and choose Delete Stream Group. The group and any nested groups are removed, but the streams themselves are never deleted - they simply move back up to the source. Every action here - create, rename, move, delete - can be undone with ⌘Z.
